On January 15, 2025, the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) issued targeted invitations to apply to candidates who may qualify for the federal Economic Mobility Pathways Project (EMPP) under the Employer Job Offer: Foreign Worker stream.
Invitation Details
Four invitations were extended through this targeted draw. These invitations were specifically for candidates who met the criteria for the EMPP, which supports refugees and other displaced individuals to immigrate to Canada through economic pathways. The OINP’s Employer Job Offer: Foreign Worker stream is designed for foreign workers with a job offer from an Ontario employer.
Economic Mobility Pathways Project (EMPP)
The federal Economic Mobility Pathways Project facilitates the immigration of skilled refugees to fill labor shortages in Canada. The OINP's participation in this project aligns with broader federal initiatives to integrate displaced persons into the Canadian workforce and economy. Candidates invited through this stream are those who have demonstrated eligibility for both the EMPP and the provincial nominee program criteria.
Employer Job Offer: Foreign Worker Stream
This stream of the OINP requires candidates to have a full-time and permanent job offer from an eligible Ontario employer. The job offer must be in a skilled occupation (National Occupational Classification (NOC) TEER Category 0, 1, 2, or 3). Candidates must also meet other program requirements, including specific work experience and language proficiency levels, to be considered for a provincial nomination.
Next Steps for Invited Candidates
Candidates who received an invitation to apply on January 15, 2025, will now have a limited timeframe to prepare and submit their complete application to the OINP. They must ensure all supporting documents align with the requirements of both the Employer Job Offer: Foreign Worker stream and their eligibility under the EMPP. Detailed guidance on the application process is available on the OINP website.
