Métis citizens in northern Saskatchewan will have increased access to affordable housing through the development of 12 new tiny homes. These housing units will be located in Buffalo Narrows, La Loche, and Cumberland House.
This initiative supports housing solutions for Métis citizens in these communities. The development is designed to address housing needs within these regions of Saskatchewan.
Funding for these projects is contributed by various organizations. The Métis Nation–Saskatchewan, the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC), and the Saskatchewan Housing Corporation are involved in supporting the initiative. The specific financial contributions from each entity were not detailed in the announcement.
Each of the three communities – Buffalo Narrows, La Loche, and Cumberland House – will receive four tiny homes. These units are intended to provide stable and affordable living options for Métis families and individuals.
The project is part of broader efforts to enhance housing accessibility for Indigenous communities across Saskatchewan. It aligns with strategies aimed at improving living conditions and reducing housing insecurity.
